Brief Film Review: Despicable Me 2

Despicable Me 2 is a funny sequel, doing a nice job of balancing call backs to what we loved from the first outing and bringing in new, funny characters, including ones we’ll love to see return in future sequels.

I think the only thing missing here was a real reveling in the diabolical gadgets that Gru had in the first one. The Minions, as expected, stole the show, including a nice twist. Finally, I liked the expansion of the relationship between Gru and the girls, and his shift from a reluctant parent into a loving father. It’s nice to see in family movies today.
